A Machine Setting Person (often referred to as a Slitting Line Operator, Slitter Technician, or Setter-Operator) for a slitting line is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating machinery that cuts large coils of metal (steel, aluminum) or other materials into narrower, precise strips. They ensure high-speed production, accurate material dimensions, and adhere to strict safety protocols.
Preferred candidate profile
- Machine Setup and Configuration: Install, align, and calibrate rotary knives, spacers, and rubber stripper rings on the arbors to meet specific customer width requirements.
- Operation and Monitoring: Load raw material coils using cranes or forklifts, thread material through the machine, and set proper tension and speed for efficient processing.
