SEND Teaching Assistant

Overview

Teaching Assistant – 1:1 SEND Support (Lower KS1) at a Primary School in Tameside.

Full‑time role providing dedicated support to a pupil in Lower Key Stage 1 with additional SEND requirements, including autism spectrum condition and non‑verbal communication needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to the pupil.
• Assist with learning, engagement and social development.
• Implement strategies to support communication and emotional regulation.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SEND Co and wider school staff.
• Provide personal care when required.
• Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working within a Primary School setting.
• Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly autism.
• Comfortable working with non‑verbal pupils and using communication strategies.
