About the Role

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
 Daily pig care
 Feeding and watering of stock
 Heat detection, breeding and artificial insemination
 Assist sows and piglets with farrowing, litter identification & processing, fostering etc
 Manage barn and pen environments; temperature and air quality
 Maintain section cleanliness and sanitation
 Dead pig removal and necropsy to identify cause of death
 Identify and treat sick or injured stock in line with veterinary treatment plan
 Identify and euthanise welfare compromised or non-treatable stock, in line with veterinary guidelines
 Maintain accurate records
 Routinely check and repair facilities and equipment including preventative maintenance
 Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the Production Manager, from time to time
 Follow all bio-security protocols as outlined in the PIC NZ Employee Handbook
