The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a regulated member of the inter-professional health care team who utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide care to individuals across the life span. The LPN provides care in alignment with Alberta Health Services mission to provide patient focused quality health services and the AHS values of respect, accountability, transparency, engagement, safety, learning, and performance. This is a dynamic position that requires accurate multi-tasking and priority setting in order to accomplish daily goals. The LPN’s practice encompasses the application of nursing knowledge, skills and judgment to assess patient needs and provides nursing care, which is reflective of their level of education and knowledge.
