About this position

The Netherlands, as well as the rest of the world, is currently experiencing a rapid change in its energy mix. Gas and coal plants used to supply the electricity market, and had stable and rapidly scalable outputs. However, with more and more renewable energy in the mix, there is more fluctuations in the supply that cannot always be matched to demand. This means that the development of new energy storage solutions are now more important then ever. One of the storage solutions we work on at TNO is the development of a new type of supercapacitor, that combines the benefits of traditional capacitors with batteries.

What will be your role?

During this project of 6 to 9 months you will work on the material development of a new type of capacitor. This means that you will investigate new materials to improve the characteristics of the capacitor, such as the energy density, maximal power output and intrinsic resistance. Ad...
