About the Role
Position Information:
The Coder III Outpatient performs the functions of coding of ED records outpatient surgery and observation records and cardiac catherization/invasive cardiology records collection of predefined indicators and abstracting medical records. Provides timely and accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes and modifiers for reimbursement and specific information for statistical purposes. Remains current with recognized resources - AHA Coding Clinics and CPT Assistant. Codes discharges utilizing the 3M encoder selecting the appropriate APC if applicable for reimbursement. Verifies LCDs for medical necessity. Communicates with physicians and clinical staff regarding coding and documentation issues.
