Chief Financial Officer

Overview

The City of Thompson is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable financial leader to serve as our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) . Reporting to the City Manager, the CFO is responsible for directing the administration, control, and reporting of all financial and fiscal matters for the City. This position ensures that all financial policies comply with provincial and federal legislation and provides strategic guidance to support transparent, accountable, and sustainable financial management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Assistant Financial Officer, Financial Analyst, Purchasing Agent, and all Finance staff with administration of all financial matters of the City.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in municipal accounting.
• Accreditation from the Municipal Administrators program.
• CA, CGA, or CMA designation is considered an asset.
