ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER (Surgery)

Position Summary

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervision of personnel and coordination of the operational activities of a specific nursing unit, basing decision-making on patient acuity, staff skills mix, and unit census for a 12-hour work shift.

Directs the clinical nursing care for patients on the assigned nursing unit. Demonstrates effective leadership skills, directing and participating with the nursing care team, in the delivery of quality nursing care in a safe environment. Must respond to nursing personnel requests for actual patient care assistance, and intervene as expert clinician, when necessary, to ensure quality patient outcomes and experience. Required to conduct board rounds on each patient to ensure that patient and family needs are met. Manages performance of unit personnel.
